The nature of the textured plaster

The texture of the textured plaster is a non-uniform, granular mass consisting of

  • wood,
  • pebbles,
  • fiber, linen or cotton,
  • mica,
  • ground brick,
  • inert gypsum,
  • fine-grained sand.

This structure allows you to achieve a wide variety of shades, reliefs and effects. The use of this finishing material makes it possible to decorate the walls in the form of watercolor painting, sandy wind, valuable wood or stone, satin or velvet.

Decorative textured plaster is used directly for decoration of surfaces in living rooms, as well as for elegant decor of restaurants, shops and offices. The use of such a plaster allows to optimally not only decorate the appearance of the structure, but also to hide minor shortcomings, which can include microcracks. It is important to note that it is possible to apply textured plaster on a wide variety of surfaces.

Surface treated with textured plaster, easy to clean and does not require specific maintenance. In addition, most of the plaster of this class is resistant to moisture, mechanical damage, ultraviolet. Heat and sound insulation characteristics of the textured plaster also remain at the height.

Decorative and facade textured plaster, its varieties

The types of textured plasters vary according to the binder used in them. The most common are its following varieties:

  • mineral;
  • acrylic;
  • silicate;
  • silicone.

Mineral textured plasters are created on the basis of cement and are sold as a dry mix for sale. Before direct use, the mixture is diluted with water. Such plasters have a high level of vapor permeability and are non-combustible. Such textured plasters are used for most mineral substrates.

Acrylic facade textured plaster is made on the basis of acrylic resins. On sale is present in the form of a water-dispersion composition, which is ready for use. Among the obvious advantages of this kind of textured plaster is that it does not need to be prepared, and the material consumption is more economical compared to dry plaster.

Based on the "liquid" glass, silicate textured plasters are produced. They are ready-made for further use. High vapor permeability and the possibility of using a large number of mineral bases are somewhat offset by the fact that this material for decoration is more expensive and significantly limited in the form of shades and colors.

Silicone textured silicone plasters are produced on the basis of silicone resins. Immediately ready for use, they have proven to be an excellent mud and water repellent coating, the service life of which is quite long.

Applying the textured plaster

Before applying the texture plaster, the surface should be properly prepared. It should not be soiled and completely dry. It is also recommended to pre-primed the wall. After the primer has dried, use a spatula to apply a plaster solution.
