Feedback on the use of gas-silicate blocks in the construction of a house, characteristics

I encountered this material when I started building a house. In neighboring areas such work began before me, so it is quite natural that at first I "made inquiries": how and from what neighbors build. Having collected all the information, I realized that it is better to use aerated concrete. However, just in case, I tried to figure it out myself, and that's what I found out.

It turns out that it is the gas silicate blocks that we usually "call" gas-aerosolicate. In fact - it's cellular concrete slabs. And here there is a nuance - they differ in density, therefore, where and what brand to use - the difference is big. Why did I focus on this material. Firstly, the wood is not so durable, and the brick - it is already being made not as before, quite a lot of marriage is breaking down. Secondly, the terms of construction are significantly reduced.

Than attractive gas-silicate blocks

  • From blocks D 500 it is possible to build three-story buildings. By the way, the most popular brand in individual construction.
  • Large range of products. You can choose the blocks of the desired brand( with the characteristics required in a particular case).
  • Standard sizes. Blocks do not have "a little more or less".Therefore, you can accurately calculate and avoid unnecessary operations( fitting, docking, inserting slits).
  • Mounting is made by "landing" on the glue. Naturally, on the job site there will be much less dirt, because only the mixes of solution are worth. And the installation of blocks is faster.
  • Relatively low weight - hence, the pressure on the foundation is reduced. Therefore, both to him and to the ground requirements are less "strict".
  • Thanks to the cellular structure, the material is able to "breathe".This has a positive effect on the microclimate of the premises.

Features of the application

  • material does not withstand bends. So, we need a ribbon version of the basement. It is also desirable to use surface reinforcement;
  • in the building industry should use aerated concrete with a density of not less than 400 kg / m3.A more porous structure is usually used to equip the thermal insulation layer;
  • plate thickness. For the house, it should be of the order of 30 - 40 cm( depending on what density).If this is a cottage, where no one lives permanently, you can use less thick specimens;
  • material will not withstand the prolonged alternations of freezing and thawing. Plus, it can partially absorb moisture. Therefore, reliable waterproofing of all parts of the house is required;
  • finishing works begin only weeks through 4 after the installation of the blocks, as the material shrinks. But the work can be carried out year-round.

I for a more qualitative arrangement of the house all the blocks after the application of waterproofing( hydroisol) also plastered, and on both sides. By the way, I saved on the material - the fight was used instead of rubble. Before pouring concrete floor solution in the garage, I poured the pieces from the damaged block onto the waterproofing.

I can say one thing. The third year, as I live in a new house, and there are no "claims" to him yet.
